Bespoke Hand-Dyed Silk Lampshade Workshop

Create a bespoke hand-dyed silk lampshade inspired by your home, your favourite colours or a palette that feels personal to you.

This specialist three-hour workshop is co-taught by silk artist Miu Shu and professional interior designer [Designer’s Name], bringing together two distinct areas of expertise.

You are welcome to bring photographs of your sofa, curtains, cushions, wallpaper, artwork or other interior details. With individual guidance, you will select a focused palette of two to four colours that connects with your space.

The aim is not to copy your room exactly. Instead, you will create a palette that echoes and brings together colours already present in your home. You may also work from a season, landscape, memory or mood.

Miu will begin with a short, accessible introduction to colour relationships and palette planning. You will then hand-dye your own piece of pure silk, allowing the colours to move, blend and create naturally varied effects.

Once your silk has been fixed, dried and pressed, [Designer’s Name] will guide you through the lampshade-making process. You will learn how to apply the silk, construct the shade and complete the finishing carefully.

Unlike a standard lampshade-making class using ready-made fabric, you will create both the decorative silk surface and the finished lampshade itself.

No previous experience in art, silk dyeing or lampshade making is required.
